No matter where you have a Masters in Social Work (MSW)? Do you have a reputation to make a difference?
I think pursue a career in social work and look at the exorbitant cost of some schools, I am not sure if it's worth to give an additional 15,000 for education and field experience that I can receive in a school that can not be a great name, but it is equally effective and has good dose of respect and influence in the labor market. For example, take GSSW Columbia and Hunter College. Hunter is "a smaller range, but still considered GSSW as a fine is much less expensive. I heard that a Masters Social Work, is usually the case, the reputation of being far as important (although I'm sure it must make a difference.) I was hoping that someone with field experience and even better, with own perspective (hired people in the field of social work before) can provide a real picture. You can not always count on What what is said on the Internet, right? =) Thanks in advance!
Certainly, the reputation of the institution makes a difference – but there is a The high social workers need that competition is not like the law or other areas where lawyers really do need more time. There are more of social work posts are social workers. In the New York area all the schools are relatively well developed and the reputation of the MSW program are all good. Now Columbia has always cache (and open the doors wider than other programs). But if Hunter compared to some other "new" Programs MSW found that I think Hunter has a better reputation of SUNY Binghamton or SUNY Brockport. The British certainly more teachers name recognition, but Hunter also has some good teachers. Ultimately, if you can get in British and Hunter, you can see which offers better device support, which believes that receives talk with teachers (which you should do) and the reality of their financial situation. PS DA Kate is just as SUNY Albany is a school more noted and it is better to go to SUNY Albany, SUNY Binghamton. Not all DSM programs are the same. Hunter and the British are at the upper end spectrum.
