ABC NEWS (World News Tonight) 1986 Coverage of the Challenger Disaster Part 41

abc world news tonight live
I’m Going to Beijing China tonight. Can I watch American or British News there? Like BBC.co.uk or NBC.com?

I am so excited. I’m flying out to Beijing China tonight to watch the games. I am a bit sad that I missed the opening ceremonies but I came to watch sports. I go boarding school in London England. So my parents, that live in Ontario Canada, and my sister (17) who goes to boarding school in LA…well, we’re all meeting up in Seattle for our flight to Beijing. I am so excited – leave in about 10-15 minuets (I’m in the Airport now)
The question I have though is will I be able to go to BBC news, ABC new, NBC News, or any major American or British News networks’ websites; are they all blocked? Will I be cut off from the whole world while I’m there in terms of news?
It is my understanding that the Chinese government as strict restrictions on internet usage. Correct?

I have been to China 11 times in past 3 years. In the hotels I have stayed in we got one internation station that broadcast a mix of everything USA, English, France, etc.

Everything from Maude repeats to Facts of Life to Law and Order. I never figured out any schedule. News was very limited. Most times CNN, ABC etc were blocked online.

Camping in a tent or sleeping on hard ground is not the idea of all of a meaningful experience with nature. Today, a camping trip often means "discomfort" in a recreational vehicle.

Makes sense. Most Baby Boomers have graduated from the backpack and tent up. A slab uneven soil, rock is not as forgiving as it once was. Many campers today are looking for something a little more comfortable.

A caravan, motorhome or other RV is like a little cottage on wheels – usually complete with stove, oven, refrigerator shower, toilet, beds, heating and electricity of 12 volts.

The smaller units have no bathroom or hot water. Some teams, however, have seating areas, air conditioning, bathtubs, microwave ovens, color televisions and built additional power generators. Too often these days, an RV is equipped with at least one valve of the room. Press a button and a side of the RV section extends substantially expand the living space inside.

When asked why they like the style life of RV, RVers include the convenience of cooking their own food, sleep in your own bed and take a hot shower in any place and at any time, even in a camp remote. They also mention that with an RV is always packed and ready to go.

Compared with car trips where drivers eat in the restaurants and sleeping in motels, an RV vacation is cost. Gasoline and camping are the major expenses. Food costs the same as at home because you cook your own meals. And even though fuel prices have increased in recent times, most RVers say they're going to keep going. Sales of recreational vehicles in 2005 were at all time highs.

Campsites are reasonable – most of about $ 15 to $ 35 per night. A surprising number of public camps continue be free or under $ 10.

There are, of course, an initial investment. Motor homes, RVs more expensive, selling from $ 30,000 to $ 300,000 with most between $ 40,000 and $ 100,000. The excess of $ 100,000 units are supported by "full time", mostly retired couples who live in towers of much or all year. Less expensive motorhomes are best suited for part-time RVers. These units can not have a minibar, and trash compactors or incorporated on television, but are ideal for camping trips on weekends and summer vacations.

Truck and camper van are more compact than the campers, but offer many of the same features at a lower price. Travel trailers, tent trailers, roller session (trailers with a large front section) have the engines and are less expensive to purchase mobile homes. They can, however, require a special trailer, which can be costly one if possible rver does not already own.

A good idea for many first-time RVers, or buyers on a budget, to start with a used unit. Second-hand trailers are often available for less than $ 10,000, sell used motor homes from $ 15,000 and up. Buyers should be cautious when buying used, and never buy from a shopping mall parking lot much, camping and other traditional places. ItÂ's Best, too, before buying a unit used to hire an RV and mechanical technician to check out for problems. Repairing hidden water damage can cost thousands of dollars.

For those who have never camped in an RV, but are thinking of buying one, it's a good idea to hire one to see if they are tailored to the RV lifestyle. Campervan rental for about $ 600 to $ 1,200 per week, depending on location, platform model and time of year. Trailers are considerably cheaper. To find a local car dealer, see your telephone directory under "Recreational Vehicles – Renting and leasing.

Before you purchase your recreational vehicle first, learn everything you can about the different types on the market. Talk to people who own recreational vehicles and ask them what they like and dislike about their equipment. Trailer journal such as Life and Motorhome offer excellent advice, both are available at major newsstands. Hundreds of how-to books and movies are available in virtually all aspects of recreational vehicles. Check your local library or RVbookstore.com.

Be sure also to go to shows for sale that are held regularly in major cities. These programs are a good place for aspiring RVers who are convinced they want a platform, but still To help you decide what kind of vehicle that best suits your needs and budget. But be careful when buying in a fair, and not buy on impulse. Special "Princesa a show "almost always an honor two weeks later again at a dealership, no matter what a vendor claims at the fair.

To most RVers, a recreational vehicle is the second largest purchase of a lifetime next to a house. And, like buying a house, it is worth to shop around carefully before making a decision.

Chuck Woodbury is the editor of RVtravel.com and the host of the Better Business Bureau Video Series DVD “Buying a Recreational Vehicle.” As an RVer, he has been profiled on ABC World News Tonight and NBC’s Today Show, and in People Magazine, USA Today and in hundreds of other newspapers and periodicals. When he is not on the road in his motorhome, he lives and works in Edmonds, Washington.
